UCAS stands for University, Colleges and Admissions Service.

About LAMDA
The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) is one of the oldest drama
schools in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1861, it quickly established itself as a centre
of excellence in performance training. LAMDA has provided theatre and the world of film
and television with generation upon generation of first-class actors and expertly trained
stage managers across the world.

LAMDA AIMS:

improve standards in communication through the spoken word
• foster an appreciation of literature, poetry and drama
• acknowledge levels of achievement
• support the creative, intellectual and social development of the individual as a
  whole.

LAMDA examinations are designed to equip candidates, whatever their age or aspirations, with a range of skills which will serve them throughout life.

Preparation for an examination can:

• unlock imagination and creative-thinking;
• develop communication skills;
• refine technical skills and artistry;
• promote team-work.

The examinations themselves provide candidates with an opportunity to :

• measure progress against an international standard
• make contact with expert practitioner assessors outside the immediate teaching environment
• build self-confidence and self-esteem
• acquire skill certification for career development
• receive critical appraisal and guidance for future development.

The range of exam options supports progression and allows the candidate to extend personal and vocational skills as well as to realise their potential.

LAMDA Examinations is accredited as an Awarding Body by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) in England, and the corresponding regulatory authorities in Wales (ACCAC) and Northern Ireland (CEA) and equate with other qualifications within the sector.

Ask For More Drama at your school.

Drama is an art form, a practical activity and an intellectual discipline. A drama education, which begins naturally with leaning through dramatic play, will eventually include many elements of theatre. Like the other arts, it involves imagination and feelings and helps us to make sense of the world. It does this through the creation of imagined characters and situations and the relationships and events that we encounter. Through engagement in drama, pupils apply their imaginations and draw upon their own personal experiences. Their increasing knowledge and understanding of how the elements of drama work enables them to effectively shape, express and share their ideas, feelings and responses, making use of language, space, symbol, allegory and metaphor.

Curriculum Support in Schools

Schools: We offer curriculum support in drama, speech and prose, musical theatre, English Literature and mime leading to LAMDA examinations (except Eng Lit) . We present our syllabus in a fun, easy and interesting way, especially for teenagers who often find the classics such as Shakespeare daunting and boring, akin to watching a foreign film without the subtitles. With our easy to study courses students will find themselves enjoying the classics and feel confident in examinations to achieve their fullest potential with ease.

Private/Group Tuition: Private or group tuition is also available through Bali SoDA to students preparing for examinations in English Literature and students who are studying Shakespeare or contemporary.
